Celebrating Diversity
On February 23, 2021, Creekside Elementary students, staff, and parents joined together to celebrate Black History Month. We learned about the first Black family known to establish roots in the Elgin community and Elgin's connection to the underground railroad. We honored the accomplishments of Black greats past and present and because Creekside students thought that it was important, we explored Black and Latinx intersectionality. During this celebration, Creekside Elementary dedicated the bulletin board at the main entrance as a continuous celebration of Black culture and excellence.
